PL Buyer 2011 Category Colonel Award

Berner Food and Beverage has been awarded the PL Buyer 2011 Category Colonel Award for the Cheese Shelf Stable Category. Berner has received this award 10 times in the last 11 years. This award represents the highest level of achievement available to suppliers in the private label industry because it is our customers – the private label retailers – who do the voting!
For the first time in the 11-year history of the Category Colonel Awards, PL Buyer created a ballot and used it throughout the voting process. This methodology resulted in significantly increased retailer voting across all 110 product categories. Retailer votes quadrupled over previous year's totals creating increased competition and resulting in more substantive results.
The increased voting also resulted in more companies receiving significant support from the retailer community. The amount of support retailers demonstrated for their trading partners during this voting process was the catalyst for PL Buyer to expand the 2011 Category Colonel program to recognize a "Gold" and a "Silver" recipient for each product category. Obviously, gold is for first place and silver is for second place.
All Category Colonel Gold recipients, and to a lesser degree, Category Colonel Silver recipients, will be recognized and profiled in the July issue of PL Buyer.
